OUR SERVICES
At Mayla Adriano Clinical Psychology, we offer comprehensive psychological assessments to help you better understand your mental health. While our goal is to work with you to create a clear picture of what’s going on and to guide the next steps in your treatment, some cases require a more in-depth assessment to answer specific questions—such as whether you meet the criteria for a psychological condition (e.g, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). These detailed evaluations can provide valuable insights, leading to a more personalised therapy plan and appropriate accommodations.
Assessment Process
The assessment process begins with an initial 1 hour appointment, which involves a clinical interview with you and/or with your parent/caregiver (if applicable). In most cases, this is followed by 2–3 additional appointments. These may include tailored psychometric assessments, gathering collateral information, and a feedback session. Following the assessment, the clinician prepares a comprehensive report that outlines the reason for referral, presenting concerns, relevant observations, diagnostic conclusions, and recommendations to support you over the next year or more.
Typically, the process from the initial appointment to the feedback session takes around 4–5 weeks. The final report is then completed and sent to you within 4 weeks of the feedback session.
The total cost of an assessment will depend on the type of assessment required. In some cases, depending on the complexity of the concerns, the clinician may determine after the initial appointment that additional assessments are needed. If this occurs, the clinician will inform you of the recommended number of additional sessions and the associated costs, so you can make an informed decision about how you’d like to proceed.
Psychological Assessment
Types of Assessments
At Mayla Adriano Clinical Psychology, we offer comprehensive psychological assessments to children, teens and adults including:
Cognitive Assessment
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Academic Assessment
Specific Learning Disorder (such as dyslexia)
Diagnostic Assessment
Psychosocial Functional Capacity Assessment
Please note that undergoing an assessment does not always result in a diagnosis. Our assessments are very thorough and take into account a wide range of factors. This means that sometimes, the outcome may not be what you were expecting. If a diagnosis is made, it will be carefully backed by the information and data gathered throughout the process. During the feedback session, the clinician will explain any diagnosis given or discuss why a particular diagnosis may not have been appropriate.
Also, psychologists are not authorised to prescribe medication. If you are seeking ADHD-related medication, you may still need to be reviewed by a psychiatrist following your assessment.
